How to Receive Christ
Hey friend, if you’ve made it this far, it means you’re searching for something real. Maybe you’ve felt the pull in your heart, a sense that Jesus is reaching out to you. And guess what? He is.
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to come as you are. Jesus is inviting you into a relationship—not into a set of rules or a list of religious duties, but into a real, personal connection with Him.
Why Do I Need to Be Saved?
The truth is, every single one of us has sinned. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin isn’t just about doing bad things—it’s our rebellion against God, choosing to live life our own way instead of following Him. And the consequence of sin is separation from God, both now and forever.
But here’s the good news: God didn’t leave us in our brokenness. He loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the penalty for our sin. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus took our place on the cross. He died so we could be forgiven. And when He rose from the dead, He made a way for us to have a restored relationship with God. But this gift isn’t automatic—we have to choose to accept it by putting our trust in Him.
Surrendering to the Lordship of Christ
Receiving Christ isn’t about just believing He exists—it’s about surrendering your life to Him. It means admitting, “I can’t save myself. My good works, my efforts, my striving—they’re not enough. I need Jesus.” It means turning from sin, trusting in Jesus alone, and making Him the Lord of your life.
The Bible puts it simply:
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
It’s not complicated. It’s about believing, surrendering, and saying yes to Jesus.
A Simple Prayer to Accept Jesus
If you’re ready to begin this new journey, you can pray something like this:
Jesus, I know that I have sinned and that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again so that I could be forgiven and have new life. Today, I admit my sin, repent, and turn away from it. I surrender my life to You as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart, change me, and lead me in Your truth. Thank You for loving me and giving me eternal life. Amen.
